RE: Thinking About Obama - David Brooks, NY Times Op Ed Column
David, I do enjoy your writing in spite of the fact that I often disagree with you. It’s funny to me, however, that you seem to like Obama so much but have such a hard time admitting it.
Your backhanded compliments seem less like real critiques than they are a way to simply deflect attention from the fact that you like him so much.
If the worst that can be said about Obama is that he may sometimes be dull, I’m OK with that.
Give me a bit of dullness any day if that’s what it takes to get decent health care at a reasonable cost, fair tax laws, an end to the war in Iraq, a long-overdue focus on alternative energy, and a rational, educated and judicious response to the crushing financial crisis we now face.
UPDATE: It seems the NY Times editors liked my comments enough to make them part of the “Editors Selections”. That’s kinda neat.
