The Magnetic Field is a great new performance space, cafe and bar in Asheville’s River Arts District. My friend Steve is the artistic director there, so I’ve been to see quite a few shows since they opened only a month or so ago. Among the several things I like about the Field is that they’re producing all kinds of acts. I’ve seen bands, singer/songwriters, sketch comedy, straight plays, and other gigs that defy description (KL, this means you). And it’s all local stuff. Local actors. Local writers. Local musicians. You’re not going to see a revival of Our Town here unless it’s been completely subverted by someone local.
Tonight was a smattering of great musicians, among them the Boom Chix - a fantastic group of Asheville drummers. Check them out.
